This is exactly why I think “transgender” does more harm than good and I’ll die on this hill. What’s the point? The people who are going to accept the way you express yourself aren’t going to care if it conforms to gender stereotypes, and the people who aren’t won’t suddenly change their minds if it does.

All it does is reinforce the very same stereotypes that gave you gender dysphoria in the first place. It’s saying that gender norms are valid, you just got assigned the wrong ones. Live your truth, express yourself how you want, alter your body however you want, but don’t validate oppressive stereotypes in the process.

In principle you are correct, which is exactly what makes it ironic. If it was any other user, I would agree with you, but LadyButterfly runs an instance where any comments or posts by men are immediately deleted; even if they are kind, respectful, and helpful.

It’s ironic for her to chime in on a question asked specifically to men, because if this were on her instance and the genders were reversed, she would immediately delete the comment for no other reason than it was from a man.

Seeking help when you’re unsure how to address your problems is a part of helping yourself. No one knows everything, you have to learn somehow. Sure, the industry is plagued by commodification, but the principle of learning these techniques and perspectives from books isn’t inherently lesser than learning any other subject that way.

The real self-help secret is balance, but different people have different biases so the changes necessary to achieve balance are different.

Timid pessimists need to learn the power of yes.

People-pleasers need to learn the power of no.

Procrastinators need to work more.

Workaholics need to work less.

Narcissists need to be considerate of others.

The insecure need to be considerate of themselves.

Trying to read every self help book for maximum mental health is like taking every pill in your medicine cabinet for maximum physical health.

I use the opposite strategy, which is what I did on Reddit: browse All, and block everything that isn’t interesting. Sports teams, shows I didn’t care about, other niche communities. I prefer this approach because I like finding content I never would have thought to subscribe to.

I see a lot of people in the thread interpreting OPs statements this way, but that just doesn’t seem like what they’re saying at all. They didn’t say anything negative about queer events, and they’re not asking why people are at them, or implying that those events should be less popular. They’re asking why workers rights events aren’t even more popular, considering their relevance to the vast majority of the population.

He not only nailed it so hard no one else can play the role, he nailed it so hard he became synonymous with the role.

I think there’s a difference between bad and wrong. Wrong documentation is incorrect. Bad documentation isn’t really incorrect, it’s just poorly executedb and mostly unhelpful.
