If a server has a bot set up on lemmy federate, the server is automatically loading posts for the community. Especially handy for smaller instances where none of the users on there have noticed the post, or have subscribed.

Since lemmy is still relatively small, a lot of people don’t subscribe, and instead use the all feed, and maybe even block communities that don’t interest them.

Also, if you’re into the history of Rome, give “The History of Rome” by Mike Duncan a listen. It’s old, so the first few episodes are of a questionable audio quality. But he gets a new microphone pretty early on, and it gets easier to listen to. He talks about the entire history of Rome, starting with Romulus and Remus and going pasthrough the republic, then the empire and up to the 5th century. The episodes are nice and short, and mistakes are always rectified if need be one or two episodes later.

I have noticed a lot of new users. My small instance went from a little over 50 to 150 since the start of this year. Being added to join-lemmy probably helped with that. Circumstantial evidence, I know. But worth noting.

This could be the upteenth photo and the last one on the roll. People don’t realize it’s easy to take pictures these days, but back then you had to make due with how many you could take. This could be the only picture in focus where the baby didn’t move or cry or whatever the fuck babies do.

These days you just keep making more pictures until you get one that’s good enough. Babies will try to fuck up most pictures you try to make.

In the Netherlands it’s illegal for the employer to deny a vacation request more than 4 weeks in advance. At least in my work field.

Mods made a dictator decree to move the community to world, and blocking the old one. People did not agree and made their own new one. On the original instance. Spam in the new community ensued.

Either way, old one was blocked for me. New one too.

I would block hexbear. I’ve done it server-wide. They are mostly very loud trolls pretending to be communists. Some could be actual communists, but I don’t buy anyone actually wanting to be in such a toxic environment and believe what they claim to believe.
